Media. Complete guide

Create photo albums, add videos, choose who can see them and download content, on the web and in the mobile app.

Written by Marcel Bragari

The Media module is your school's photo and video gallery. Here you create photo albums, add videos and choose which groups or classes can access them and whether parents and students can see them.

Each section describes the steps on the web and in the mobile app. In the mobile app, the module is called Photos & Videos.

Contents

1. How do I create a photo album?

On the web

Media › Images

In the left menu, click Media. In the Images tab, click the green Add Album button at the top right.

Media and Add Album

In the Add Album window, fill in:

  • Album Name (required) and Description (optional);

  • Date: the album's date and time;

  • Access for: the groups or classes that have access to the album;

  • Added by: the album's author;

  • Visible for Parents and Students: choose Yes so parents and students can see the album, or No so only staff can see it.

Click Create.

The Add Album window

Note! Visible for Parents and Students is set to No by default. If you want parents to see the album, switch it to Yes.

Note! Besides Access for, the album's date also matters. If the album is dated before a student's first day, that student won't see the album, even if they are in a group with access. You can change the date at any time from Edit Album (section 3).

The album page opens. Click Add Photos.

The new album and Add Photos

In the Upload Photos window, drag your photos into the dotted area or click Browse/Upload to choose them from your computer. The selected files appear in a list. Click Upload.

Upload Photos

The Status column shows the progress of each photo. When the upload is done, Success appears. Click Finish.

Tip: in the mobile app you can upload up to 30 photos at once. For more photos, repeat the steps.

Note! On iPhone, the app only opens the phone's photo gallery. If your photos are in the Files app, save them to the gallery first, then upload them.

10. Where do new albums and videos appear?

Newsfeed

When you add photos to an album, Kinderpedia automatically publishes a post in the Newsfeed (“added new photos”), visible to the groups or classes with access to the album. Photos added shortly after one another are grouped in the same post. An empty album does not create a post.

The album post in the Newsfeed

Likewise, each new video appears automatically as a Newsfeed post for the selected audience.

Tip: if you choose No for visibility for parents and students, the content stays visible only to staff.
