Guide for parents. Complete guide

Everything you need to know as a parent in Kinderpedia: your account, family details, grades, assignments and the school's modules.

Written by Marcel Bragari

Kinderpedia keeps you connected with your child's school or kindergarten. From your parent account you see the timetable, grades, assignments, photos and messages from teachers, pay invoices and keep your family details up to date.

Each section describes the web version (in the browser, on your computer) and, where it differs, the Kinderpedia mobile app. The modules you see depend on what the school has turned on, so you may not have all of them.

Contents

1. How do I activate my account?

Invitation email › Accept invitation

Your parent account is created by the school. When the school sends you the invitation, you receive an email from Kinderpedia. We recommend opening it on a computer.

  1. Click the Accept invitation button in the email. The Kinderpedia page opens.

  2. Choose a password that meets the security requirements shown on the page and confirm it.

  3. Click Create account. You are signed in to your account straight away.

Tip: if you can't find the email, check your Spam or Promotions folder too. If you didn't receive it, ask the school to send the invitation again.

2. How do I find my way around the parent account?

Dashboard

After you sign in, the Dashboard opens. On the left you see your child's timetable by day, and on the right the school's posts in the Newsfeed. At the top left you see the child whose information is shown, with their class and school.

Dashboard

The modules are in the menu on the left. Scroll the menu to see all of them. The last options are Notifications and My account.

In the mobile app

In the Kinderpedia app, open the ☰ menu at the top left. At the top you see your name and email, then the modules turned on for your child. Scroll to the bottom of the menu: the last options are Account Settings and Notifications.

3. How do I edit my account?

Your name (top right) › My account

Click your name at the top right and choose My account. The same page also opens from the menu on the left.

The account menu

On the left you see your details: name, email, phone and address. On the right, under Account Details, you see the family or families you belong to.

My Account

To change them, click the three dots in the corner of your card and choose Edit.

Edit

In the Edit parent details window you can change your profile photo, with the pencil icon on the photo, as well as First name, Last name and Phone. Your email address is changed from the Security page (see section 7).

Note! Access to editing your account, adding family members and deleting your account is granted by the school where you have your account. If you don't see these options, ask the school.

4. How do I add a family member?

My account › Account Details › Add family member

You can add another parent or another person who looks after your child to the family, for example a grandparent or a babysitter. In Account Details, click + Add family member next to the family you want. The button only appears for families where the school has given you this access.

Add family member

If the family belongs to a different school than the child currently selected, Kinderpedia tells you that you will be switched to a child profile from that school. Click Proceed.

In the Add family member window, choose the Account Type, then fill in First name, Last name, Email and Phone. Optionally, add a photo and an address. When you are done, click Add.

The add family member form

In Account Type, choose the relationship with the child, for example Father, Mother, Grandfather, Grandmother, Tutor, Babysitter or Aunt.

Account Type

Tip: only the school can add child accounts. From the parent account you can add adults only.

In the mobile app

☰ › Account Settings › … Family › Add family member

In Account Settings there is one row for each family you belong to (for example Popescu Family). Tap the family you want. In Family members you see the adults and the children. Tap Add family member, fill in First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone and, optionally, Address and a photo. Choose the Account Type and turn on Pickup children if the person is allowed to pick the child up from school. Tap Save.

Note! In the app too, Add family member only appears for families where the school has given you this access.

5. Where do I see my child's details?

My account › Account Details

Account Details shows Parent Accounts and Child Accounts. Next to each name, a green tick shows that the person has activated their account, and a red x shows that they haven't yet. The MAIN label marks the family's main parent, and Pickup shows whether the person is allowed to pick the child up from school.

To see a child's details, click the three dots on their card and choose View details.

6. How do I switch between my children?

Child's photo (top left) › Change profile

If you have several children in Kinderpedia, click the child's photo at the top left. In the Change profile window, Active profiles tab, click the child you want. The selected child has a green tick. Under each child you see their school or kindergarten, even if siblings go to different schools.

Change profile

In the Inactive profiles tab you find the accounts of children who are no longer enrolled, for example at a school they left. Selecting an inactive profile also changes the school shown in your account.

Inactive profiles

Tip: if your child leaves a school where they had a Kinderpedia account and the account was archived, they receive a re-enrollment code. Give this code to the new school or kindergarten: with it, your child's account is activated there, with its full history.

In the mobile app

Tap your child's photo at the top right, for example in the News Feed. The Choose your child window opens. In the Active tab, tap the child you want: their name turns green and gets a tick. The selected child's name appears under the page title.

Choose your child in the app

The Inactive tab shows children who are no longer enrolled at a school. You find the re-enrollment code in the app under Account Settings › the child's family › the child marked (inactive): it appears under their photo, at Child KP CODE, with a copy button.

7. How do I protect my account (password, email, 2FA)?

My account › Settings › Security

In My account, under SETTINGS, click Security.

Change Password: fill in Old Password, New Password and Confirm Password, then click Save. Use 8 or more characters with a mix of letters, numbers and symbols.

Change Password

Change Email: click Update Email. You receive a verification code at your new address. Follow the instructions in the email to complete the change.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra step when you sign in, so no one can get into your account with just the password. You have two options:

  • Enable 2FA for security: turn on the switch. Each time you sign in, you receive a verification code by email, which you enter after your password.

  • Enable Two-factor Authentication via an authenticator app: turn on the switch and connect an authenticator app on your phone (for example Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator). The app generates the codes you enter when you sign in.

Change email and 2FA by email
2FA with an app and deleting the account

Log Out from All Devices: if you signed in on a phone or computer you no longer use, click this button in My account. You are signed out everywhere and will have to sign in again.

Log Out from All Devices

Delete Account: with Terminate account you permanently delete your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes and followers.

Note! Deleting your account cannot be undone. The option only appears if the school has given you this access.

In the mobile app

☰ › Account Settings › Security

In the app you find the same options under Account Settings › Security: Change password, Change email address, Enable 2FA with Email, Enable 2FA with Authenticator, Biometric unlock (open the app with your fingerprint or face), Log Out from All Devices and Delete Account.

8. Where do I see my child's grades and absences?

Gradebook

Open Gradebook from the menu. At the top, choose the school year and, next to it, the period (for example the whole year or a term). The page shows the total absences, the final averages and, for each subject, the grades or ratings, absences and average.

Gradebook

Tip: new grades also appear as posts in the Newsfeed, and in the timetable on the Dashboard you see them next to the subject on that day.

9. How do I see assignments and hand in homework?

Assignments › Assigned by Teachers

Open Assignments from the menu. Choose Upcoming Assignments or Past Assignments. Each assignment shows the subject, the date, the description and, on the right, its status: for example Verified, Revised, Overdue or Expired. Click the status to open the assignment.

The list of assignments

In the Attachments tab you find the instructions and the teacher's files, which you download with the green button. Below, you can write a comment in Private comments (only with the teacher) or in Class comments (visible to all students and teachers in the class).

Assignment details

To hand in the solved homework, open the Handed In tab and upload your file. Here you also see the files you have already sent and when you sent them; the pencil next to a file lets you replace it.

Handed In

When the teacher checks the homework, the status changes (for example Verified), and the teacher's feedback appears in the last tab (Verified homework or Homework Revision).

Verified homework

Note! If the teacher chose to block submissions after the deadline, you can no longer hand in the homework after that date. You see this in the assignment details, at Block submission after deadline.
