How do I record attendance, absence or late arrival per activity?

Mark students present, late or absent for a lesson or activity, on the web and in the Teacher app.

Written by Marcel Bragari

Besides daily attendance, you can record attendance for each activity or discipline in the timetable: present, late or absent. You can do it on the Kinderpedia web platform or in the Kinderpedia Teacher app. Absences recorded for an activity also appear in the Gradebook.

On the right you see the list of students, in the Class attendance tab. Click the names of the students to select them (or Select all for the whole class), then click at the bottom:

  • Present;

  • Late attendance;

  • Absent.

Absent opens two options: Absent marks the absence only for this activity, and Multiple days lets you record an absence over several days.

Under each student you then see the status, who recorded it and at what time: Checked in (green), Late Check-In (orange) or Unapproved absence (red).

Tip: to approve an absence or delete one recorded by mistake, see How do I approve or delete an absence? in the Gradebook guide.

Note! If Activity attendance based on check-in is turned on, students are marked present or absent automatically from the daily check-in when the activity is opened. If daily attendance is taken after the activity has started (plus the grace period), students are marked absent. See How do I set the calendar's time interval?.

2. How do I add a reason for a late arrival?

After you mark a student late, click the clock icon on the right of their name.

In the Late Check-In details window:

  • Excuse: choose Yes if the late arrival is excused, or No;

  • Reason: choose the reason from the list (for example Medical appointment, Traffic delay, Overslept, Family emergency or Other);

  • Observation: add details if needed (up to 256 characters).

Click Save.
