In the Newsfeed the school and teachers communicate with families: announcements, photos, albums, events and links, sent to whole classes or to specific students. Parents and students can like and comment on posts.

1. What is the Newsfeed?
Newsfeed
The Newsfeed is the first page that opens after you sign in. If you are in another module, click Newsfeed in the left menu.
It shows, in chronological order, the posts of the school and teachers, plus updates published automatically from other modules: new documents, newsletters, the weekly menu, albums, events. Parents and students only see the posts meant for their class or their child.
On the right of the page, managers also see a summary of the day: Quick Stats, Attendance Report, Invoices, birthdays and upcoming events.
2. How do I create a post?
Newsfeed › What's on your mind?
Click the What's on your mind? field. The Create post window opens.
Choose who receives the post: Groups (one or more classes) or Students (one or more students).
Write your message in the Add your text here field.
If you want, add a photo, an album, an event or a link (see the next sections).
Click Save Post.
For one or more classes: keep Groups selected and choose the classes from the Select groups list. All Groups sends the post to the whole school.
For specific students: click Students and type the first letters of the student's name. Select them from the list. You can add several students. Only the families of the chosen students see the post.
Note! A teacher can only post to the classes they are assigned to. Managers can post to any class.
3. What can I add to a post?
Newsfeed › Create post › Add in your post
Below the text, under Add in your post, there are four options:
Photo: drag the images into the upload area or click Browse images.
Link: the Paste your link here field appears. Online videos (for example YouTube) can be played directly in Kinderpedia.
Album: create a photo album straight from the Newsfeed. Choose the classes, fill in the Album name and description, then click Create a new album and upload the photos. The album also appears automatically in the Media module.
Note! An album can only be sent to Groups, not to individual students. It is available to the managers, teachers, parents and students of the chosen classes.
Event: the Add event form of the Events module opens (name, description, type, date, location, access, RSVP, cost, reminders). After you save it, the event also appears in the Newsfeed. Details in the Events guide.
4. How do I turn off comments on a post?
Newsfeed › Create post
Before you publish, tick Turn off comments on this post. Recipients can still see and like the post, but they can't write comments. Then click Save Post.
You can also change this setting after publishing, from the post's ⋯ menu (see How do I edit or delete a post?).
5. How do I like, comment and see reactions?
Newsfeed › post
Below each post you find:
Like: like the post;
Comments: opens the Your comment... field (up to 5000 characters). Write your comment and click Add;
Reactions: the number of likes. Click it to see who liked the post.
Comments are visible to all recipients of the post.
6. How do I edit or delete a post?
Newsfeed › post › ⋯
Click ⋯ at the top right of the post. The menu has these options:
Edit: change the text or recipients;
Disable comments / Enable comments;
Delete: the post is removed permanently from the Newsfeed.
In the Edit window you can change the text and add photos. Album, Event and Link can't be added when editing. Click Save Post.
Note! Deleting a post is permanent. Changes made when editing are published immediately for all recipients.
7. How do I find an older post?
Newsfeed › Search by keyword
Type a word in the Search by keyword field and click Search. For a more precise search, click the filters button on the right.
The Filter newsfeed window opens. Choose:
Type: No filters, Wall post, Link, Media, Assignments, Document Repository, Events, Newsletter, Survey, Menu Planner;
Date Range: the period;
Groups: one or more classes;
Author: who published (with Select all / Deselect all).
Click Filter. Use Clear filters to go back to all posts.
Tip: The word typed in the search also applies on top of the advanced filters.
8. How do I see what a student's family sees?
Newsfeed › Switch to individual child newsfeed
To check which posts a student received, click the button with the person icon next to the Newsfeed title.
The Switch to individual child newsfeed window opens. Choose the class from the list and, if you want, search the student by name. Click the student (a green tick appears), then See individual newsfeed.
Only the posts meant for that student are shown. The eye icon opens the student's full profile, and the arrow to the left of the title takes you back to the full Newsfeed.
Tip: If a parent says they can't see a post, check here. Usually the post wasn't sent to their child's class or to their child, or the parent has several children and is on another child's account.
9. How do I use the Newsfeed in the mobile app?
Kinderpedia Teacher app › ☰ › News Feed
Open the main menu (☰, top left) and tap News Feed. You can also open it from the bottom bar. For a new post, tap the green + button at the bottom right.
The Post screen opens:
If you don't want comments, tick Turn Off comments on Feed wall.
Write the text in the Write a description for your post field.
From the list at the bottom choose what to attach: Camera, Photo Library, Add Photo Album, Upload Video, Add New File, Drawing, Add Event, Link or Voice recording.
Tap the pencil on the right to choose the recipients. Until you do, No recipients selected appears under your name. In Select Groups, the Groups tab lists the classes (with Select all) and the Individual tab lists students. Tap the classes or students, then Next.
The chosen classes appear under your name. Tap the send icon (the paper plane) at the top right to publish the post. To leave without publishing, tap the back arrow.
Tap Comment under a post to open Feed details. Here you can like the post with Like and write a comment in the Write a comment field, then tap the send icon.
Use Search in News Feed at the top to find both people (People) and posts (Feed content).
Use Filters to narrow the list by Date Range, Group, Author and Feed Type (post, link, photos and videos, assignments, documents, events, newsletter, surveys, menu). Tap Filter; CLEAR removes the filters.
Tip: In the mobile app you can also attach videos, files, drawings and voice recordings, which are not available in the web Newsfeed.
