Method 1: Approve an absence from the Activity Calendar.
To motivate an absence directly from the schedule, first, go to the "Activity Schedule" > "Calendar" (or "Planner") section.
If you are in "Calendar", select the class for which you want to display the timetable using the top filter and click on the green "Filter" button. Navigate to the week where the respective activity is scheduled using the arrows above the schedule and click on it.
After clicking on the activity, the page will open with the details of the activity on the left and the list of students participating in the activity on the right. Under the students' names on the right side, you will be able to see if the students are present or absent, and for the students who are absent and you want to justify an absence, you just have to click on the red button "Unapproved absence" and a window will open with motivation options for that absence.
If you are in the "Planner" section of "Activity schedule", you only have to select the class for which the activity is scheduled by clicking on the name of the class on the left side, then click on the desired class and follow the steps described above.
Method 2: Approve an absence from the "Gradebook".
If you use the "Gradebook" module, you can justify an absence directly from the catalog if you wish. Also, the teachers who are set as main teachers in a class can motivate absences for several subjects simultaneously from the electronic catalog even if they are not set as responsible for the respective activities.
To justify an absence, select the class and discipline using the filters at the top.
After that, click on an absence under the "Absences" column to open the window with the options to motivate the absence.
Here, teachers will have the option to motivate absentees for a longer period of time, not just from the selected day, and the teachers who are supervisors of the selected class will be able to use the option "For all disciplines in selected time interval" to motivate absentees for the others as well matters. If you cannot use the option "For all disciplines in selected time interval" as a supervisor, it means that you only need to contact the director/manager of the institution to set yourself as supervisor/main teacher for the respective class.
Method 3: Approve an absence from the report for the Activities Attendance module.
You can approve an absence to activities directly from the activity attendance report, to do this, first, go to the "Custom Reporting" > "Activities Attendance" section in the menu.
Now you have to filter by the period and the class for which you want to approve an absence using the filters above, first select the date, then the class and click on the green "Filter" button.
After you have filtered the report, in order to motivate an absence, you just need to click on it in the report and the window will open with the absences/presents granted for the subjects on a respective day, then click on the red text "Unapproved absence" to open the window with options for absence motivation. Unapproved absences are displayed with a circle and red background.
You can also approve for a longer period as seen in the screenshot, and if you are set as the main teacher/leader of the respective class, you can check the option "For all disciplines in selected time interval" to approve absences in the other disciplines that are supported by other teachers.
