The Basic Audit Log keeps the history of changes made in the school account. For each change you see who made it, the date and time, which record was changed (a child, a parent, a group, user rights, a module) and the value before and after.
Use it when you need to find out why something changed: for example who moved a student to another class, who changed a parent's e-mail or who turned on a module.

1. Where do I find the Basic Audit Log?
Center Management › Basic Audit Log
In the left menu, open Center Management and click Basic Audit Log. The page lists the changes, newest first. At the top there are tabs for the types of records, and below them the period and ID filters.
Note! The log is read-only. You can't undo or change anything from it. To restore a value, go to the module concerned (for example the child's profile or User Rights) and change it there.
2. What information do I see for each change?
Each row in the table is one change, with five columns:
User / Date: who made the change, the date and time, and the log entry number (for example #779603);
Action: what happened, for example Created, Updated, Transferred, Reactivated, Deleted, Active or Inactive;
Entity: the changed record, with its type (Child, Parent, Group, User Rights, Kinderpedia Modules etc.) and its ID;
Changes: the changed fields. The old value is crossed out in red and the new value is shown in green, after the arrow;
History: the eye icon, which opens the full history of the record (section 4).
For example, in the Parent tab you see when a parent account was created and which details were changed later (first name, last name, e-mail, phone).
3. How do I see only the changes of one type of record?
The All tab shows all changes together. The other tabs show only one type of record:
Child: personal details, child code and transfers between groups, with the new group, group type, start date and status;
Parent: account creation and changes to details (name, e-mail, phone);
Teacher: teachers assigned to classes and changes to their profile;
Staff Member: changes to staff profiles (name, profile picture);
Group: groups created and changed (name, status, study level, colour);
Nursery / Kindergarten / School: the institution's details (for example city and county);
User Rights: permissions turned on or off for a role (for example parents' access to Billing & Payments);
Kinderpedia Modules: modules turned on or off.
In the Child tab, a transfer appears as two rows: in the old class the status changes from Active to Inactive and an End date appears, while in the new class you see From date and the status Active.
Tip: if a student can't get grades or absences for the days before the move, check here the date from which they're enrolled in the new group (From date). How to change it is explained in Student Groups: complete guide.
In the Group tab you see, for example, when an optional group was created and who renamed it.
The User Rights tab shows which permission changed, for which role (Parent, Student, Teacher etc.) and in which module.
The Kinderpedia Modules tab shows who turned a module on or off, and when.
4. How do I see the full history of a record?
Click the eye icon in the History column. A window opens with all the changes to that record, on a timeline. At the top is the Current state, and below it the changes, numbered from newest to oldest. Each one shows the date, the user and the old and new values.
Close the window with Close.
5. How do I search changes by period or by ID?
Click the Select period field. Choose a preset period (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 14 Days, Last 30 Days, Last Month, Last 3 Months, Last 6 Months, Last 12 Months and others) or a custom interval, then click Apply.
To find the changes of a specific record, type its ID in the search ID field and click the magnifying glass. You find the ID in the Entity column, next to the record type. Clear the search with ×.
6. How do I choose the columns and export the log?
With View you choose which columns appear in the table: User / Date, Action, Entity, Changes and History. From Show … entries you choose how many rows appear per page (5, 10, 20 or 30). Move between pages with the arrows at the bottom.
The buttons above the table save or print the log:
PRINT: prints the log;
PDF, CSV and XLS: download the log in the chosen format. CSV and XLS open in Excel.
Tip: first filter the tab and the period you need, then export. The file will be shorter and easier to read.
